Post-menopausal women at higher risk of chronic dry eye.

Women who have undergone menopause are at a higher risk of developing chronic dry eye due to the hormonal changes.

VisiVite offers two dry eye nutritional formulas: Dry Eye Relief TG-1000 for moderate to severe symptoms, and Quench for mild to moderate symptoms.

A reduction in the production of both estrogen and progesterone can affect the tear film composition.

Symptoms of dry eye can include, burning or scratchy sensation in the eyes, sensitivity to light, difficulty with nighttime driving and a stringy mucus discharge. Over-the-counter eye drops or prescription eye drops are available to help ease dry eye symptoms and VisiVite offers two different dry eye supplements, Dry Eye Relief TG-1000 and Quench to help soothe chronic dry eyes.

In addition to an increased risk of dry eye, post-menopausal women also face an increased risk of developing cataracts and glaucoma. While menopause itself does not cause cataracts, previous studies have shown that cataracts are found more frequently in postmenopausal women than they are in men of the same age. People over the age of 40 are encouraged to get a comprehensive eye exam to screen for glaucoma.
